I'm very pleased with the dramatic results and it was REALLY fun to do. You have to work fairly quickly, while the paper is wet, so it sort of forces boldness and abandon.
I'm not sure how close to done this is. I could
- deepen the values in the sky to make it more dramatic, which might be a good balance with the water at the bottom;
- darken the ochre triangle shape in the upper right hand bit of land;
- tone down the phtalo in the valley at upper center;
- add some white strokes to the water; OR
- call it finished...

Hello Barbara,
You have a problem that I wish I had more often in that I think you have a perfect sky :-)
So tricky one. I know, I'm not much help there am I?
Anyway, I think it is a really good landscape painting.

I say done. So lovely. I admire you for tackling two of the hardest mediums I've found tough to work with. The colors here are great.
I love the combination of techniques and the strong effect you have created, however, I think a stronger, bluer sky would add better balance. I may need to try this technique - even add dry pastel lines on top to see what that does. The best part is that it was fun ...
Wow! I couldn't imagine putting those two mediums together but then saw your painting! I don't know enough about painting to suggest anything whatsoever. Looks good to me. ;)
I have used watercolor and pastel but never together! I'd call it finished, it's wonderful!
IF I am right-the water reflects the sky. So, add a touch more color to the sky or quiet down the water. Either way you are to pat yourself on your back, for a strong piece.
Hmmmm... I am not an expert in colors to be honest, I play with pencils and pen a lot more than anything else I have in my art drawer... To me, it looks perfectly fine and I love the colors.
So pretty. I love the colors!
I think it looks great! I never thought of combining watercolour and pastels!
I love it and agree about the pleasure of watermedia that's fast, creamy with loads of color- I'm especially partial to caran d'arche watercolor crayons. Your painting have a vibrant color scheme.
